After browsing, I do the "clear private data", and have everything checked. When I turned on my computer just now, all my history was cleared, but I was still logged into every site I had visited. This is rather puzzling, as it has happened before, and I make sure to check the history and stuff once I have cleared all the private data.
tl;dr: I cleared all private data last night, came on now and was still logged into all the sites I visited. Has happened before. ![]() Do you have Firefox set to "Show my windows and tabs from last time" under Tools->Options->Main->When Firefox starts?
Nope, it's set to Show My Home Page.
Last night after clearing my data, I went onto a few of the sites I had logged into, and it had them logged out ............. This has happened quite a few times .... ![]() If you are willing to delete all cookies, delete the files cookies.sqlite and cookies.txt in the Profile Folder in case there is a problem with the file(s). Note that the latter file may not exist in your profile.
OP here
I just deleted cookies.sqlite, there was no cookies.txt file as predicted. Still didn't work, turned on computer, my history was gone, but all my sites were still logged in. ?????? Inspect the cookies before and after clearing to see if they are really cleared.
OP here,
I do. I clear them, check all the sites I go on, they all seem to be logged out, but as soon as I reboot the computer, open Firefox, go to my usual sites, and I am logged into everything. wtf BUT DID THE COOKIES CLEAR? Yes or no?
If they did, then the problem cannot be cookies, can it? OP here,
Yes the cookies cleared .. Well what else could it be? What other piece of information gets stored on your computer from the site? If you clear your cookies and then do show cookies and none are listed and then restart your computer and view the cookies before visiting any websites and they are all there again, it sounds like something is backing-up and restoring them because until you re-visit a website or content from the website, its cookie should not re-appear.

My Firefox Config How do you do "show cookies"?

I had forgotten how to "show cookies", but did a search of Tools JUST after posting then found it.

Just typed up a long post, didn't click submit, and restarted ... Anyway checked cookies, cleared cookies restarted, still there did it again, still there deleted "cookies-nontor.xml" and they have seemed to go, hopefully...
